Description

Serving as both a community-building tool and an advocacy initiative, this zine is an essential guide for all students at Concordia University. By providing a detailed overview of the union's structure and objectives, ASFA 101 empowers students to navigate and engage with the university community effectively.

Process

The visual direction of the zine is guided by illustrations created by Stephanie Auger-Roy of university students working together reaching a common goal. Diverse illustrations of students working together towards a common goal reflects the values of ASFA, which aims to represent and serve all students in the Concordia University community. Additionally, the choice of black stickers to highlight important information is not only visually striking but also functional in directing the reader's attention to key points in the zine. Overall, the visual direction of ASFA 101 effectively supports the informative and empowering content of the zine.

About
Atima Ng is a graphic designer based in Montreal. Her focus is on developing brand identities with a passion for creating visual experiences. Her approach is centered around creating contrast in all her projects, whether it be through the use of colour, typography, or animation.

Atima currently works at Square as a Visual Designer. She is a graduate of Concordia University, where she completed her bachelor's degree in Design in 2023, building on the knowledge and experience she gained from her DEC in Graphic Design at Dawson College in 2020. Throughout her academic journey, she worked with several non-profit organizations, including Sticky Rice Magazine and ASFA Concordia, where she engaged in various graphic design, web design, and photography projects aimed at promoting interculturalism within the Montreal community.

Over the years, Atima has worked with a diverse range of clients across the Culture, Tech, and Fashion industries. Her goal is to continue working as a graphic designer and art director, helping brands to elevate their identity and effectively communicate their message to their target audience.
